Jukic told a news conference that the highest state official who would be present at the final day of the lancing tournament on Sunday was Deputy Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic.
A score of members of parliament, five state secretaries and several Catholic Church dignitaries are also expected to attend the final day of the three-day tournament.
Asked by reporters whether Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader or Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks would be at the final ceremony, Jukic said the Alka society had sent them invitations on time but that no replies had yet come from their offices.
Until the late 1990s, this tournament, which dates back to the medieval times, was usually held under the auspices of the head of state. The tournament came into focus of media and political circles after some visitors and organisers booed President Stjepan Mesic at one of the tournaments.
Jukic said today that the funds for this year's events, 1.2 million kuna, were raised by some Croatian companies and other sponsors.
