Also in attendance were state secretaries at the two foreign ministries, Hido Biscevic of Croatia and Bozo Cerar of Slovenia, who are in charge of the implementation of the incident avoidance statement signed on June 10.
There were no statements to the press after the meeting. According to the Croatian press release, Grabar-Kitarovic and Rupel affirmed the two countries' political will to develop good neighbourly relations and adjust activities so as to avoid incidents along the border.
They said Croatia and Slovenia would continue to settle possible incidents by agreement and underlined the responsibility of competent local government bodies for the implementation of the statement on the avoidance of incidents.
The two ministers also advocated honouring the agreement on border area cooperation and stepping up Slovenia's ratification of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation also signed on June 10.
Rupel presented Slovenia's efforts to keep the issue of European Union enlargement high on the Union's agenda.
Slovenia wants Croatia to start EU accession negotiations as soon as possible, although this calls for a consensus of all member countries, the Croatian press release said.
