"We are aware of the efforts Croatia is making and we advocate that negotiations start as soon as possible. The framework for the negotiations has already been set, approved and is waiting to be greenlighted," Frendo told reporters after the talks.
The Maltese minister said his country was experienced in being an EU candidate country because it applied for membership in 1990 and was admitted 14 years later.
Minister Grabar-Kitarovic informed her colleague of everything Croatia was doing to implement the Action Plan aimed at tracking down fugitive General Ante Gotovina, so that the EU could reach consensus on Croatia's full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia as a condition for the start of the country's EU entry talks.
