ZAGREB, July 12 (Hina) - Croatia's EU entry negotiations can be opened only if it is established that it is cooperating fully with the Hague war crimes tribunal, the EU Council of Ministers president, British Foreign Minister Jack Straw, said in the European Parliament on Tuesday.

In its edition of Wednesday, Jutarnji List daily quoted Straw as saying that in Croatia's case the European Council's decision does not state that fugitive general Ante Gotovina must be in The Hague, but that cooperation with the UN court must be full.

Straw said the Council of Ministers must make the decisions, but added the Council had always said that in the decision-making process it would also hear the opinion of the tribunal's chief prosecutor and president.

Jutarnji List and Vjesnik quote diplomatic sources as saying that chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte might submit a new report on former Yugoslav countries' cooperation with the tribunal in September, and not in November as previously announced.

The EU's task force for Croatia met in London on Monday at the level of foreign ministry political heads. Vecernji List daily says in Wednesday's issue the meeting concluded there was no new information about Croatia's cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
