"Ukraine is a big country with great influence on the present and the future of Europe," Bebic said, adding that Croatia supported every type of cooperation.
Bebic promised assistance to Ukraine in getting closer to the European Union, adding that Croatia was willing to share its experience in adjusting its national legislation to the EU standards.
Lytvyn expressed gratitude to Croatia for its care for the ethnic Ukrainian community. On Thursday, the two officials will attend the unveiling of a monument in memory of Ukrainian poet Ivan Yakovych Franko in the eastern Croatian town of Lipik.
The talks also revolved around the role of parliaments in strengthening economic cooperation between Croatia and Ukraine.
The number of Ukrainian tourists visiting Croatia in 2010 increased by 28 percent on the year, as a result of the cancellation of visa requirements during summer months. Bebic and his guest expressed hope that the present visa policy would continue.
They also suggested the development of cooperation between regions in Croatia and Ukraine.
Lytvyn said Ukraine was interested in Croatia's know-how in infrastructure construction, notably in motorway construction. They highlighted the positive example of the Croatian power transmission equipment producer Dalekovod, which has been awarded a USD 95 million contract for the modernisation of Ukraine's energy system.
