ZAGREB, June 30 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Thursday ended its session with a debate on the final bill of amendments to the Law on Secondary Education, which introduces, among other things, high-school graduation and external evaluation of secondary schools.

Earlier in the day the parliament unanimously and without debate delayed the entry into force of the Law on Chemicals, which was to have taken effect on Friday. Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks thanked the MPs, saying that by making this decision they had corrected the government's mistake and ensured continued supervision of the transport of poisonous substances.

The application of the law would completely remove border sanitary control of imports and passage of hazardous materials.

Croatia imports 120,000 tonnes of hazardous substances annually and another 40,000 tonnes pass through the country in transit to other countries.

The entry into force of the law was delayed until the end of the year.
