ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - Vladimir Jordan was re-elected president
of the Croatian Pensioners Party (HSU) on Friday, saying the HSU was doing as
much as it was possible on the realisation of its agreement with the
government, and that it would not agree to talks on changing the formula of
adjusting pensions to salaries. Addressing the fifth HSU election
assembly, Jordan said that only when it was no longer possible to work on the
realisation of the agreement could severing cooperation with the ruling
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) be considered.
Several pensioners' associations attending today's assembly said that
two-thirds of pensioners lived on the brink of poverty.
