"The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) operates according to the principle of subsidiarity - party leaders in the field decide what is the best for the party," Sanader said commenting on the announcement by the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) that cooperation with the HDZ on the state level would be discussed, because the HDZ in Knin did not plan to include the SDSS in the new local government.
"I don't believe in threats and I don't care about them," Sanader said.
After recent local elections, the HDZ in Knin decided to form local government with the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), and the Croatian Bloc (HB), leaving out the SDSS.
"The coalition in Knin is not a coalition against Serbs, but for Serbs, Croats and everybody else," Sanader said.
The SDSS won eight of the 17 seats in the Knin Town Council, the HDZ won six, the HB two and the HSP one.
The SDSS presidency is expected to discuss local coalitions at its session later today and decide on the future of cooperation with the HDZ on the state level.
