BLAZEVCI/SREDNJI RADENCI, June 4 (Hina) - Nine ambassadors accredited to Croatia, 13 accredited to Slovenia, representatives of local authorities and members of the Croatian-Slovene friendship societies on Saturday took part in a diplomatic rafting race down the Kupa river.

The race down the river, part of which divides and separates Croatia and Slovenia, was held under the auspices of presidents Stjepan Mesic of Croatia and Janez Drnovsek of Slovenia.

Dutch Ambassador to Ljubljana Jan Hanneman thanked the organisers for successfully organising an event promoting Slovene-Croatian friendship and the Kupa river valley.

The race, which began in Prelesje, Slovenia, ended in Srednji Radenci, Croatia, where participants held speeches.

Ambassadors Mario Nobilo of Croatia and Peter Bekes of Slovenia said Slovene-Croatian relations were friendly. Nobilo said the small problems between the two countries would be solved.

Slovene Parliament Deputy Speaker Marko Pavliha said the diplomats' meeting on the Kupa was a sign of good relations between the two countries. He too said that outstanding issues would be settled.
