PULA/ZAGREB, June 3 (Hina) - The joint session of the Croatian and Slovene governments to be held in Croatia on June 10 is of historic importance, Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Friday, underlining that the friendship between the two countries was unquestionable.

The two governments' first joint session was agreed at an informal meeting Sanader and his Slovene counterpart Janez Jansa held in Slovenia on May 14. The Croatian government today confirmed the session would be held.

"I attach historic importance to this session because it will be the first since 1991," Sanader said in Istria County at the inauguration of the west fork of the Istrian Y highway.

"That certainly testifies to the friendship between Croatia and Slovenia, which is beyond question, and like my Slovene colleague Prime Minister Jansa, I have always claimed that what we have in common and what connects us is far stronger than a few outstanding issues," said Sanader.

He added the meeting to be held on the Brijuni isles in the northern Adriatic would result in the signing of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation, and likely a joint statement on the avoidance of border incidents which the two sides are preparing.

The two sides are also expected to discuss a meeting of experts who will establish a location for a joint bridge across the Mura river.
