The bronze monument, sculpted by Aleksandar and Silvana Guberina, is four metres high and weighs one tonne.
The monument was commissioned by the residents of Kastela, the local Homeland War Association, and the town authorities.
The democratic maturity of every nation is also measured by how much its members can rise above party membership in those matters that are more important than party membership, which is why there should be such unanimity in evaluating the first Croatian president, Sanader said.
"His work is great and his opponents and those who have tried to belittle what he did will be forgotten, while Franjo Tudjman will be remembered in history," the PM said.
HDZ officials attending the unveiling ceremony took the opportunity to present party candidates running in the upcoming local elections in Kastela.
