ZAGREB, April 25 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader told BBC Croatia on Monday he would arrest and extradite fugitive General Ante Gotovina.

Asked what he would do if he saw General Gotovina in the street, Sanader said: "It is logical, he would immediately be extradited to The Hague".

Asked whether that meant that he would personally do something such as try to arrest Gotovina, the Croatian PM replied. "Of course".

Sanader said that at the moment he had no information on whether Gotovina was being protected by Croatian security and intelligence services and added that due to insufficient cooperation he had replaced two heads of security services. The PM reiterated that according to available information it could not be confirmed that Gotovina was in Croatia.

Ahead of the first meeting of an EU task force in charge of assessing Croatia's cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Sanader expressed conviction he would manage to persuade the EU that Croatia was fully cooperating with the Hague tribunal and that it was indeed trying to locate the runaway general.

"We are entirely committed to the implementation of the law, the constitutional law on cooperation with the Hague tribunal, to our international obligations. My government is entirely oriented towards solving the last outstanding issue," Sanader told the BBC
