BELGRADE, March 17 (Hina) - By the end of the month, the state union ofSerbia and Montenegro must make several more steps in cooperation withthe Hague war crimes tribunal if it wants to convince theinternational community that it
deserves a positive assessment of theFeasibility Study and the proof of this is Croatia's negative example,Serbia and Montenegro's Minister for Human and Minority Rights andhead of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal,Rasim Ljajic, said on Thursday.
BELGRADE, March 17 (Hina) - By the end of the month, the state
union of Serbia and Montenegro must make several more steps in cooperation with
the Hague war crimes tribunal if it wants to convince the international
community that it deserves a positive assessment of the Feasibility Study and
the proof of this is Croatia's negative example, Serbia and Montenegro's
Minister for Human and Minority Rights and head of the National Council for
Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, Rasim Ljajic, said on Thursday.
"Because of only one unfulfilled conditions of 626, Croatia's negotiations
with the EU have been postponed," Ljajic said in an interview for the Fonet
agency, cited by Belgrade-based Danas daily of Thursday.
Speaking about the transfer of prisoners from Croatia to Serbia and
Montenegro, Ljajic said that after 15 years the first group of prisoners had
been transferred from Croatian to Serbian prisons.
"Serbia and Montenegro and Croatia are under a magnifying glass and
nobody will allow countries which bring problems to enter the EU yard, We must
prove that we are ready to overcome the difficult legacy of the past in order
to become a part of the European future," Ljajic said.
The feasibility study is necessary for the signing of the Stabilisation
and Association Agreement.
