ZAGREB, March 4 (Hina) - The Bavarian government resolutely supports
Croatia in its efforts to join the European Union as soon as possible, Hans
Mayer of the Croatian-Bavarian Permanent Commission said at a press conference
in Zagreb on Friday at the end of a seminar about Croatia, organised for
Bavarian civil servants.Mayer, who is also in charge of the Bavarian government's Office for
International Relations, expressed hope that membership talks would start on
March 17 as planned and added that any delay in the talks would not affect
economic relations between Bavaria and Croatia.
Germany's Deputy Ambassador to Zagreb, Laurids Hoelscher, who was also
present at the press conference, said that the delay of talks should not be
speculated about, but even if the talks were postponed it would not mean that
Croatia's prospects in the EU were over.
