The book by professor Karlo Budor, chief of the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy Spanish language department, provides an insight into the life of a diplomat who came to the then monarchist Yugoslavia in 1926. He became a permanent resident of Zagreb in 1937. After retiring he became the first Spanish language teacher at the faculties of philosophy and the economy.
According to Budor, Torrijos is the author of the first Spanish language guide in the former Yugoslavia.
Torrijos is also a diplomat who lived in turbulent times for Spain, Yugoslavia and Croatia, where he is buried.
Spanish Ambassador to Zagreb Alvaro Sebastian de Erice y Gomez Acebo said the book, published by the Spanish Diplomatic School, testified to the efforts Croatia and Spain were investing in intensifying relations.
He suggested translating the biography from Spanish into Croatian.
