The most important dates in Croatia's recent history are when the country gained its independence and when it defended its freedom, Djapic said.
Rulling politicians in Croatia are not capable of handling Croatia's future, they do not have a vision and their policy boils down to Croatia's joining the EU at all costs, while the people of Croatia have lost their pride and dignity, Djapic said.
The HSP leader said that the Ivo Sanader cabinet was making "one omission after another" in the case of General Ante Gotovina.
It is a lie that the indictment against Gotovina can be disproved only before the Hague war crimes tribunal, Djapic said. The indictment has already been changed and there was no reason for the government not to disprove the indictment and investigate the doctoring of the Brijuni transcripts, based on which the indictment was issued, he added.
It is obvious that the government does not have the strength to resort to legal means but is giving in to the political pressure from the tribunal's Chief Prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, Djapic said.
"The campaign against Gotovina makes us sick. It is hypocritical to attack him and call on him to surrender and prove his patriotism, because Gotovina did prove his patriotism, while those calling on him (to surrender) did nothing," Djapic said.
