The keys of the vehicles intended for the fire departments in Pazin, Rijeka, Novi Marof and Pozega and for the Fire and Civil Defence Academy in Zagreb were handed over to the Croatian Minister of the Interior, Marijan Mlinaric, at a ceremony in Zagreb on Thursday.
Mlinaric said that the project of Italian support to the Croatian Fire Service was only the beginning of joint cooperation in fire prevention. He recalled that before providing their assistance in vehicles, the Italians had organised training for 24 members of Croatian public fire-fighting units.
The head of the Italian delegation, Mario Morcone, who is in charge of the Fire Prevention and Civil Defence Department, said that Croatian fire-fighters were already cooperating with their colleagues in northern Italy and that he expected broader cooperation.
Italy's Ambassador to Zagreb, Alessandro Grafini, commended the cooperation between the two countries, saying that it would be even better when Croatia joined the European Union.
