"In my view, the establishment of a Congressional Croatian Caucus signifies an important and concrete step towards further strengthening and promotion of political, economic, cultural and other relations between two friendly countries such as the United States of America and the Republic of Croatia," Seks said.
"As the primary task of the Croatian Caucus is to support the endeavours of Croatia as it works towards full membership in NATO and the European Union, and bearing in mind the influence the US Congress has on US foreign policy, I regard the setting up of the Croatian Caucus as an especially important event in the Croatian-US partnership," the letter said.
Seks said he was pleasantly surprised to learn that 43 members of the House of Representatives had already joined the Caucus, adding that this showed "a very high interest of US Representatives to be active in the newly-established Congressional Caucus".
He also informed the Congressmen that a parliamentary Croatia-US Friendship Group had been established in the current, fifth term of the Croatian Parliament.
"This fact, together with the setting up of the Congressional Croatian Caucus, has created realistic preconditions for establishing a direct and firm relationship between the two parliamentary groups, as well as between the US Congress and the Croatian Parliament in general," the letter said.
