Citing the irregularities, GONG activists said that those were lack of respect for the election procedure by election committees, the fact that some voters could not cast their votes for various reasons, and some problems with voters' registers, violation of the electioneering ban, and the unlawful composition of election committees, which in some cases included members of political parties.
Commenting on the work of state bodies, GONG said that the State Election Commission had done its job very well, while the State Administration Office had done a poor job regarding the issuing of instructions to offices at lower levels on voters' registers and regarding the supervision of those offices.
Commenting on the violation of the electioneering ban, GONG activists cited the announcement of estimated election results by some television stations. They said that by announcing the results of exit polls before the polling stations were closed, Nova TV was able to influence the outcome of the vote. Croatian Television and RTL also violated the electioneering ban despite the fact that they announced the projections after 7 pm, GONG said.
The NGO therefore would not officially announce the election results it obtained by the method of parallel gathering and processing of election results at polling stations.
