All the parties will benefit from this updated and comprehensive agreement on CEFTA (Central European Free Trade Agreement), the EC Delegation in Zagreb said in a statement sent to Hina.
The quality of being comprehensive is a key objective of CEFTA which the European Commission particularly supports. We have not given any ultimatum, but we have encouraged all parties, including Croatia and Serbia, to take into consideration a global picture of what CEFTA will bring and to seek solutions, the statement reads.
In order to facilitate the process, the EC has offered political, technical and financial assistance to CEFTA negotiations.
It has always been emphasised in an unequivocal manner that the Commission is not a party in the said negotiations.
Finally, it is the political responsibility of countries engaged in the negotiations to find satisfactory solutions and to face consequences if they fail in the process.
The European Commission is there to facilitate the process and not to make judgements, according to the statement.
