SAVSKI MAROF, Nov 17 (Hina) - Croatian pharmaceuticals company Pliva on Friday formally started the construction of a new multipurpose biopharmaceutical plant in Savski Marof, about 20 kilometres northwest of Zagreb.

Pliva on Friday formally started the construction of a new multipurpose
biopharmaceutical plant in Savski Marof, about 20 kilometres northwest of
Zagreb. The construction of the USD20 million plant, which will
employ around 80 people, is expected to be completed in early 2009.
The first product of the new factory will be the substance G-CSF,
granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, which is used in the production of
medicines for oncology patients.
It will be the first biopharmaceutical product of Pliva and its new
owner, US company Barr Pharmaceuticals.
