Croatian minister attends Munich security conference

ZAGREB/MUNICH, Feb 5 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic, who is participating in an international security conference in Munich, said that the world, being faced with new security challenges, is undergoing fundamental changes of security systems and Croatia's foreign and security policy has been recognised as one of those that have anticipated those changes,

Attending the 47th security conference in Munich which drew about 350 participants, Bozinovic told Hina on the phone on Saturday that the focus of the event was put on the future security challenges to which the international community must respond through networked security.

"In terms of security, the world is undergoing fundamental changes. Everyone, including Croatia and the entire NATO are facing security system changes," the minister told Hina.

According to Bozinovic, NATO's role was modified after the Lisbon Summit, notably regarding regional forces and the share of the burden in international mission.

Croatia's foreign and security policy has been recognised as one of those that have anticipated changes. Bozinovic said adding that the new concept is evident through cooperation with neighbouring countries within the US-Adriatic Charter and the establishment of a regional police school.

On the margins of the Munich conference, the Croatian minister held separate meetings with his British, German and Afghan counterparts.

World leaders attending the conference condemned violence in Egypt and called on Middle East leaders to implement democratic reforms, international news agencies reported on Saturday.
