The average net salary in August was 4,385 kuna, covering 78.35 per cent of the living costs.
The monthly costs of a family living in a rented apartment in October amounted to 7,117 kuna, down 22 kuna or 0.31 per cent from September. The average salary covered only 61.23 per cent of the living costs.
If a family owns a car, they spend another 891 kuna a month at least.
The costs of living in October were the highest in Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj, and Istria counties (5,976 kuna), and the lowest in Osijek-Baranja, Brod-Posavina, Virovitica-Podravina, Vukovar-Srijem, and Pozega-Slavonia counties (5,420 kuna).
The SSSH's consumer basked includes the costs of food, rent, transport, personal hygiene, clothing, education and culture.
