Living costs in October down 0.11 pct from September, says union federation

ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) - The minimal living costs of a four-member family in October amounted to 5,596 kuna, down six kuna or 0.11 per cent from September, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) said on Tuesday.
ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) - The minimal living costs of a four-member family in October amounted to 5,596 kuna, down six kuna or 0.11 per cent from September, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) said on Tuesday.

The average net salary in August was 4,385 kuna, covering 78.35 per cent of the living costs.

The monthly costs of a family living in a rented apartment in October amounted to 7,117 kuna, down 22 kuna or 0.31 per cent from September. The average salary covered only 61.23 per cent of the living costs.

If a family owns a car, they spend another 891 kuna a month at least.

The costs of living in October were the highest in Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Lika-Senj, and Istria counties (5,976 kuna), and the lowest in Osijek-Baranja, Brod-Posavina, Virovitica-Podravina, Vukovar-Srijem, and Pozega-Slavonia counties (5,420 kuna).

The SSSH's consumer basked includes the costs of food, rent, transport, personal hygiene, clothing, education and culture.
