Mesic commented on the events the book refers to, claiming it was factually correct, brave and honest reading material.
The author said Croatia had not been unanimous about the division of Bosnia and that among Croatian politicians, contrary to the official policy, there had been those, like Mesic, who opposed the division.
Commenting on events prior to the war in the former Yugoslavia, Mesic said his separation with former Croatian President Franjo Tudjman had began on the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mesic said he was pleased the world had realised that Bosnia must not be divided and underlined that Komsic's book would help strengthen this belief.
He also said the book would help change the still prevalent, false belief in Croatia that former Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic had said "don't go to the war in Croatia because that is not our war". Mesic said Izetbegovic actually had urged young men in Bosnia not to respond to the former Yugoslav People's Army's mobilisation calls to prevent them from being drafted.
