The government explained that the Council, without a fifth member representing Hina's employees, eliminated the possibility of the staff giving their opinion on candidates for the agency's director.
The Hina Governing Council on Thursday elected the Editor-in-Chief of the Domestic News Department, Smiljanka Skugor-Hrncevic, to succeed Mirko Bolfek as the agency's director.
According to the government's proposal, after the present Governing Council is dissolved a new one should be appointed and should again invite applications for the post of director.
Last week, the government proposed that Parliament appoint Hina reporter Vladimir Lulic as a member of the Governing Council, and the proposal was included on the agenda today.
The newly-added and remaining items on the agenda will be discussed and put to the vote next week.
