The agreement was signed on Wednesday by SSSH acting president Ana Knezevic, the secretary of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Slovenia, Milan Utrosa, and the vice-president of the National Federation of Trade Unions of Hungary, Peter Pataky.
The agreement covers the Croatian counties of Osjecko-Baranjska, Viroviticko-Podravska, Koprivnicko-Krizevacka, Medjimurska and Varazdinska, the Hungarian regions of Baranya, Somogy, Zala and Vas, and the Pomurje and Ptuj regions in Slovenia.
The interregional trade union council provided for under the agreement will be the 42nd such council to be operating within the European Confederation of Trade Unions and the largest territorially.
The purpose of cross-border trade union cooperation is to improve worker protection, coordinate the work of trade union branches in multinational companies operating in this Euroregion, apply together for EU-funded projects, and strengthen relations between regional branch trade union organisations.
