"This is a pre-election agreement on post-election cooperation between the HNS and the HSS," HNS president Vesna Pusic told a news conference.
Under the draft agreement, after the elections the two parties plan to form a coalition of the political centre which will be led by the party that wins more seats in the Croatian Parliament. This party will also nominate its candidate for the post of prime minister.
The agreement also says that after the elections, the coalition of political centre will invite the Social Democrats (SDP) to join the coalition so as to form a government of the left centre.
"The SDP is most likely to become our post-election partner," Pusic said.
HNS senior official Radimir Cacic stressed the importance of the fact that a year before the elections, his party's political position was "clear and known", adding that the HNS would run in the next parliamentary elections independently.
