First 11 Croatian Roma receive computer literacy diplomas

ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - The first 11 young Croatian Roma on Tuesday got their European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Start diplomas at the end of the pilot-project "ECDL for Roma", implemented by the Network - Association for the Promotion of Employment, the Association of Roma in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, and the ECDL academy Elit-Trade.
ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - The first 11 young Croatian Roma on Tuesday got their European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Start diplomas at the end of the pilot-project "ECDL for Roma", implemented by the Network - Association for the Promotion of Employment, the Association of Roma in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, and the ECDL academy Elit-Trade.

The 11 Roma, aged between 14 and 27, successfully completed their training, passed all exams and received their ECDL diplomas, which makes them the first Croatian Roma with ECDL diplomas. The ECDL diploma is an internationally recognised certificate of PC competence.

The president of the Association of Roma in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, Alija Mesic, said that the young Roma now wanted to find employment as soon as possible.

The owner of the ECDL licence, the Dublin-based ECDL Foundation, is present in 140 countries and represents the standard of basic computer literacy in the European Union.
