ZAGREB, Sept 5 (Hina) - Former Osijek mayor Zlatko Kramaric and former Osijek County prefect Ladislav Bognar on Tuesday testified in investigative proceedings against independent MP Branimir Glavas and Krunoslav Fehir, who are suspected of war crimes against Serb civilians in the eastern city of Osijek in 1991.

The two witnesses testified for three hours each before Zagreb County Court investigating judge Zdenko Posavec. They would not comment on their testimonies afterwards, saying that they were bound by the court order to keep their testimonies confidential.

The first investigative hearing after the summer recess was also attended by Glavas, who declined to comment on it. He only said that there were no new elements in the two testimonies and that he was optimistic.

The prosecution has proposed hearing 45 witnesses during the investigative proceedings as well as additional testimonies by medical and ballistic experts. Four witnesses were questioned before the summer recess.

The investigation is due to continue on Friday.

Glavas dismissed all allegations of the prosecution which charges him with the torture of three Serb civilians and the murder of two, of whom one disappeared without a trace.

Fehir, a former member of the unit that was under Glavas's command in 1991, is suspected to torturing and killing one civilian. He admitted to the crime before the investigating judge and accused Glavas of ordering the crime.
