The Kosovo Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms said in a statement on Wednesday it would not give up searching until the last missing Albanian, Serb or member of any other ethnic community was found.
According to information from the International Committee of the Red Cross, 2,268 persons are still listed as missing. During and in the aftermath of the armed conflict that ended in 1999, more than 3,000 people disappeared, of whom 2,340 were ethnic Albanians, 523 Serbs and 201 members of other ethnic groups.
The problem of missing persons must be dealt with as a humanitarian and not as a political issue, it was said at a rally that was held in Pristina on Tuesday evening.
