ZAGREB, Aug 2 (Hina) - A monument in tribute to victims who were exhumed from a mass grave and 20 individual graves in the village of of Ceric in the eastern Croatian town of Nustar and who had been killed by Serb rebels in early
1990s, was unveiled on Wednesday by Deputy Prime Minister and War Veterans' Affairs Minister Jadranka Kosor.
ZAGREB, Aug 2 (Hina) - A monument in tribute to victims who were
exhumed from a mass grave and 20 individual graves in the village of of Ceric
in the eastern Croatian town of Nustar and who had been killed by Serb rebels
in early 1990s, was unveiled on Wednesday by Deputy Prime Minister and War
Veterans' Affairs Minister Jadranka Kosor. The monument in memory to
11 Croatian soldiers and 12 civilians was erected on the place of the
discovered mass grave, according to a press release issued by the ministry of
war veterans' affairs.
On this occasion, Kosor reiterated that 1131 persons, who went missing
during the Homeland Defence War, still remained uncounted for. Of them, 500
lived in Vukovar-Srimum County before the war.
So far, 143 mass graves have been unearthed throughout Croatia. Also,
3,585 victims have to date been exhumed and of them 2,991 have been
identified.
