Representatives of the Contact Group handed Kosovo's negotiating team in Pristina a declaration which notes that Kosovo's future status should ensure rights for all citizens and lay foundations for a peaceful, democratic and multiethnic society.
The Contact Group announced more active participation by the international community in northern Kosovo, as well as before and after Kosovo's status is defined, in order to ensure the accomplishment of the said goals.
The Contact Group points to the fact that decentralisation can help communities in northern Kosovo preserve their identity and protect their rights. Once again it urges Kosovo Serbs to take part in the work of Kosovo's institutions.
According to the Contact Group, the Kosovo Force and other international structures will remain in Kosovo after its status is defined to supervise the application of new solutions and provision of rights for all Kosovo residents.
The Contact Group reiterated that there would be no division of Kosovo.
