Mesic commented on the situation in Croatia and its neighbours, underlining the need to individualise guilt for war crimes so that peoples could be freed from collective responsibility and so that normal and good relations could be built among the states in Southeast Europe.
The ambassador thanked Mesic for his consistent advocacy of the need to investigate and punish war crimes. He welcomed Mesic's initiative based on which the State Prosecutor's Offices of Croatia and Montenegro last week signed an agreement on cooperation in prosecuting perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
The two officials also discussed the possibility of organising a meeting of state prosecutors from the region to improve cooperation in investigating war crimes, judicial reform, and in fighting corruption and organised crime.
