We will continue to fight the grey economy, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said.
Croatian Economy Minister Branko Vukelic said that a number of measures were taken last year to fight the grey economy and that inspectors were given more power.
Tax administration inspectors last year discovered over 1.4 billion kuna of unreported taxes. Of this amount 877 million kuna was unreported Value Added Tax.
The government also endorsed a report on the implementation of a national strategy for the prevention of drug abuse in 2005. According to the report, 104 people died of overdose in Croatia last year, as against 108 in 2004.
Croatia belongs to a group of countries in which drug abuse is moderately spread. There are between two and seven addicts per 1,000 inhabitants, however this number is going up.
Nearly 50 million kuna (6.9 million euros) were spent for drug prevention programmes. This, however, was eight percent less than in 2004.
