ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader in parliament
on Friday presented the government's proposal regarding the guidelines for the
application of contract forms of public and private partnership (JPP), saying
that it could become Croatia's "new deal" under which cities and municipalities
would receive the necessary hospitals, schools, gyms, retirement homes and
other institutions of public interest over the next seven years.
Sanader said that the construction and reconstruction of public facilities
according to the standard model would last 25 years, while the application of
the JPP model would shorten the construction period to only seven years.
"This is an ambitious objective, but if we all back the proposal, the
duration of the construction could be shortened by four or five times," Sanader
said stressing that the proposed guidelines were unanimously supported by
prefects and mayors as well as by the Economic and Social Council.
