MOSTAR, June 27 (Hina) - Managers of the Mostar-based Aluminium Smelter and DaimlerChrysler and Outokump companies on Tuesday signed a EUR 35-million agreement on the construction of a new plant for electrolyses in that southern city
in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Smelter and DaimlerChrysler and Outokump companies on Tuesday signed a EUR
35-million agreement on the construction of a new plant for electrolyses in
that southern city in Bosnia-Herzegovina. DaimlerChrysler and
Outokump have been strategic partners of the smelter, which is the biggest
Bosnian exporter, for a decade.
The new plant will create new jobs and help increase exports, all of
which is necessary for Bosnia to make headway, the CEO of the smelter, Mijo
Brajkovic, said after the signing ceremony.
The new plant will increase the annual production of anodes by 12,000
tonnes to 132,000 tonnes.
The German insurance company Hermes has given loan collateral to the
Mostar smelter.
