"We do not know the purpose of Tadic's and Mesic's visit to Knin," said Frane Kristo, leader of the HB branch in Knin and deputy mayor.
The HB has two deputies in the Town Council and holds power in a coalition with the Croatian Democratic Union, which holds six seats, and the Party of Rights, which holds one seat.
"We would like Mesic and Tadic to talk some sense into councillors of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) and make them stop obstructing the work of the Town Council," Kristo said.
SDSS deputies have been boycotting the work of the Town Council since May, dissatisfied with their representation in bodies of authority and claiming that the ruling coalition is disregarding an agreement on the election of a third deputy mayor from within SDSS ranks.
A local association of war veterans treated for PTSD today issued a statement opposing Tadic's visit to Knin over his statement given during a visit to Sarajevo last December, when he expressed regret at the suffering of all victims in the war in the former Yugoslavia and called on all sides to apologise to one another.
