ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, June 1 (Hina) - The Hague war crimes tribunal on Thursday declassified documents on the medical treatment of former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic while he was in custody in the tribunal's detention unit, where he died of a heart attack on March 11.

The decision to declassify Milosevic's medical tests, motions relating to his condition and transcripts of all court hearings on the matter was made by the trial chamber presided by Judge Patrick Robinson at the request of Milosevic's court-appointed attorney Steven Kay.

The trial chamber decided that a large number of facts in the classified documents was published on May 31 in the findings of an internal court investigation into Milosevic's death which was conducted by the ICTY vice-president, Kevin Parker of Australia.

The trial chamber said that the confidentiality of the said documents was no longer in the interest of justice and that Milosevic himself had approved their publishing, which was later also requested by his son Marko.
