The spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, to be held in Paris from 26 to 30 May, will pool more than 300 parliamentarians from North America and Europe.
"Croatia expects a clear message regarding enlargement in 2008 and clear indications that countries of the US-Adriatic Charter are ready to meet all the necessary criteria to be invited to join NATO in 2008," Cosic told reporters in the parliament.
Croatia, Macedonia and Albania, which are members of the Adriatic Charter, are participating in NATO's mission in Afghanistan, which is their concrete contribution to strengthening NATO's capability in its crucial task, Cosic said.
As of July the Croatian mission in Afghanistan will number around 150 people, including soldiers, diplomats, police officers, physicians and others, Cosic said.
A member of the Croatian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Marin Jurjevic of the Social Democrats, said the Croatian Democratic Union and the Social Democratic Party were agreed regarding integration with NATO. "One of the advantages of membership is that it guarantees peace and political stability in southeast Europe. When Croatia is invited, it will be proof of its political maturity," Jurjevic said.
