ZAGREB, May 24 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, who is on a working visit to Sweden, held separate meetings on Wednesday with Swedish Parliament Deputy Speaker Per Westerberg, Deputy Prime Minister Bosse Ringholm, and the Minister for International Development Cooperation, Carin Jaemtin, the Croatian ministry said in a statement.

Grabar-Kitarovic informed her hosts about current developments regarding Croatia's integration with the EU and presented a platform for membership negotiations and the course of adjustment of Croatia's legislation with the EU's and fulfilment of membership criteria.

The two sides underlined that the two countries had very good relations and that it was important to maintain the Euro-Atlantic prospect of southeast European countries based on their individual achievements.

On Tuesday Grabar Kitarovic met her Swedish counterpart Jan Eliasson. The two ministers agreed that Croatia-Sweden relations were very good and without outstanding issues. The Croatian minister informed her colleague about Croatia's achievements on the road to the EU and Eliasson promised that Sweden would continue supporting the expansion of the EU based on individual achievements.

Until the end of 2005 Sweden secured around EUR45 million for humanitarian and development assistance to Croatia. From 1992 to 2003 Sweden invested around EUR33 million and in 2004 the value of projects coordinated by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) was around five million euros. Cooperation between the two countries in the period between 2004 and 2006 will focus on support for reforms which are crucial for the development of closer relations and Croatia's integration with the EU, with emphasis on central institutions. One of the main goals of the Swedish development strategy with Croatia is support for reforms contributing to the establishment of an efficient, transparent and democratic public administration system.
