He held talks with President Janez Drnovsek, Prime Minister Janez Jansa and Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel as representatives of a county which is familiar with the situation in the region.
Rupel said Slovenia was interested in Serbia's becoming a more European state and in public institutions, the judiciary and the economic structure in Kosovo becoming functional.
Ahtisaari said it was too early to say what Kosovo's final status would be, but added that after it was defined, international troops and structures would remain in the province.
He underlined the importance of cooperation between Belgrade and Kosovo Serbs in the negotiating process.
Pressures on Pristina do not help if the other side is not ready to lend a hand and cooperate, said the Finnish diplomat.
