Parties in ruling majority back appointment of new ministers

ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - The outgoing ministers have done their job in a dignified and proper manner, said Andrija Hebrang of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) parliamentary group at a parliamentary debate on the appointment of the new ministers of defence, finance, construction and culture.

The high-quality experts are entering the government, Hebrang said commenting on the nominations proposed by Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.

I think this is the best moment for a government reshuffle, he added praising the Jadranka Kosor cabinet for economic recovery steps over the past 18 months.

Milorad Pupovac of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), a junior partner in the ruling coalition, said that he saw the government reshuffle as an intention to bring new people who would create new policies and new measures.

The new government must ensure the halting of the growing illiquidity, he said.

Speaking on behalf of the group of independent MPs, Djurdja Adlesic said there was a lot of time until the next parliamentary elections and that no one had the right to waste time,

Another member in the governing majority - the Peasant Party (HSS) -- already announced its support to Kosor's nominations of new ministers.
