Representatives of the Croatian wood-processing industry spoke at the forum about the need to increase export and expand partnership with Sweden, where they have been exporting mostly semi-finished products and where they want to export more furniture. The forum was organised by the Croatian Embassy in Sweden and the South Swedish Chamber of the Economy.
Representatives of numerous Croatian companies from other sectors spoke about development and cooperation possibilities.
Croatia and Sweden have good relations but their economic cooperation is unsatisfactory, said Ambassador Svjetlan Berkovic. Annual trade amounts to some USD 360 million, with Croatian exports being three times smaller. What is encouraging is the interest of investors and the growing number of tourist arrivals from Sweden, with 140,000 Swedes having visited Croatia in 2005, 55 percent more than in 2004.
