received US Senator George Voinovich on Thursday to discuss the current
situation in the region and the process of return of refugees and displaced
persons to their pre-war homes, the President's Office said in a press
release. The talks also focused on the role of the Hague war crimes
tribunal, with Senator Voinovich saying that during his forthcoming visit to
Belgrade he would cite Croatia as an example of cooperation.
The US senator was interested in the attitude of Croatian citizens
towards Croatia's NATO membership bid, saying that the US was ready to provide
assistance to Croatia in the process of reform.
Mesic and Voinovic also discussed preparations for the celebration of
the anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla, the press release said.
