DiCarlo said the United States hoped NATO would hope an enlargement summit in the first half of 2008 at which three members of the US-Adriatic Charter would have an opportunity to receive an invitation for membership.
Should Croatia, Albania and Macedonia carry out reforms in that period, then the doors to NATO are open to them, said DiCarlo, deputy assistant to Secretary of State in charge for European and Euro-Asian affairs.
