Grabar-Kitarovic and Frendo signed a protocol on cooperation between their ministries, which binds them to hold regular consultations once a year with a view to examining all aspects of bilateral relations and exchanging views on regional and international issues.
The two ministers were agreed that Croatian-Maltese relations were very good, friendly, without outstanding issues, and that activities within international organisations, notably the European Union and the United Nations, had a positive effect.
Grabar-Kitarovic and Frendo said that cooperation between the two countries' Diplomatic Academies was very successful and agreed that Croatia and Malta would also cooperate in economic diplomacy. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation on Croatia's road to the EU and for Malta to convey its experience from the entry negotiations.
The two ministers were also agreed that Croatia and Malta were interested in developing cooperation in tourism and the economy. Frendo announced he would attend the Crans Montana Forum in Zagreb and use the opportunity to introduce business people from the two countries.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Gonzi and Parliament Speaker Tabone, Grabar-Kitarovic thanked the Maltese government for supporting Croatia before entry negotiations with the EU were launched and said she was very pleased with the strengthening of the Mediterranean dimension within the Union.
At the Mediterranean Diplomatic Academy, Grabar-Kitarovic gave a talk on the main guidelines of Croatia's foreign policy, efforts to join the EU and NATO, and the criteria and reforms being undertaken in the integration process. She also spoke of regional cooperation and the Mediterranean dimension of Croatian-Maltese cooperation within the EU.
