Wishing a merry Christmas to the Christian faithful who celebrate Christmas according to the Gregorian calendar, President Josipovic expressed hope that the holiday atmosphere would contribute to the further promotion of solidarity, justice and peace.
"The contribution of Christian believers to many areas of life is of great importance for the common weal of Croatian society. I believe that the joyful atmosphere of Christmas will provide impetus for Christian believers to continue their commitment to promoting solidarity, justice and peace and the overall development of our homeland," Josipovic said in his message.
Parliament Speaker Bebic wished that Christmas would instill peace and love in the hearts of citizens.
The messages of Christmas echo stronger than usual at the end of "this year marked by many events of importance to Croatia's future".
All everyday problems which Croatian citizens face, such as "the grave economic situation, insecurity at workplace, overdue salaries and lay-offs, have resulted in understandable dissatisfaction, fear, fatigue and despondency," Bebic said in his message.
"However, at the state level very important processes are going on which will have positive results and will lead to resolution of problems," he added.
Bebic said that the relentless anti-corruption campaign was one of the prerequisites for economic recovery and improvement of living standards.
PM Kosor wished that Croatians would celebrate this holiday with their families.
This is also an occasion to express gratitude to all people who have given their lives for Croatia and who have been committed to its progress, she said.
Kosor said that the messages of Christmas about unselfishness, dedication and modesty can help the Croatians to build Croatia as a country of solidarity, peace and prosperity.
Our goal to return to Europe, which was defined 20 years ago, is within our reach, she added.
"Being aware that European Union membership is not the solution for everything, and not ignoring problems Croatian citizens are faced with every day, I know that we have launched positive irreversible changes," the premier said.
