Slovenian consulate-general inaugurated in Split

SPLIT, Oct 18 (Hina) - The new offices of the Slovenian consulate-general in the Croatian Adriatic city of Split were officially opened by Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar and the Slovenian honorary general consul Branko Roglic on Monday.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic, who attended the ceremony, and his Slovenian counterpart said in their brief address to reporters that the bilateral relations were developing in a friendly direction.

Jandrokovic said that it was especially important to develop good relations between Croatia and Slovenia at the time when Croatia was wrapping up the accession negotiations with the European Union.

"I believe that we will soon complete the negotiations and that together with Slovenia, which is an EU member, we will sit at the same table," the Croatian official said.

He found it important that the Slovenian honorary general consul in Split was one of the best business people in Croatia.

This will help to direct the bilateral relations towards the economic cooperation and joint ventures on the third markets, Jandrokovic said.

Minister Zbogar said that he was happy to see Minister Jandrokovic at today's ceremony.

All this confirms that the relations are developing positively and that we can settle our bilateral problems, the Slovenian minister said.

Roglic thanked the two ministers for attending today's ceremony.

This consulate will be a home for Slovenians living in Croatia and will contribute to the development of friendship between Slovenia and Croatia, the consul said.

The two ministers will hold a bilateral meeting in Split later in the day.
