LJUBLJANA, Feb 2 (Hina) - The Slovene government on Thursday adopted a proposed resolution on its activities in the European Union this year, citing as priorities preparations for the presidency of the EU in the first half of 2008, efforts to enter the Eurozone, and the establishment of the Schengen border regime with Croatia.

Relations with Croatia, which Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel had said would be one of the foreign policy priorities, were not mentioned in the proposal.

The resolution says that Slovenia will support the stability and development of the Western Balkans and will try to ensure that the European Commission fixes a date for opening membership talks with Macedonia and completes negotiations on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Serbia and Montenegro.

Slovenia will take active part in EU membership talks with Croatia and Turkey and will insist that they meet the criteria that applied to the 10 countries that joined the bloc in May 2004, according to the proposed resolution.
