ZAGREB, Jan 9 (Hina) - Croatian National Bank (HNB) governor ZeljkoRohatinski has said that there is no reason to continue negotiationswith Belgium's KBC bank following the statement by the bank'sdirector, Andre Bergen, that he would
take steps against the HNBbecause it was preventing his bank from buying HVB Splitska Banka. In the first three quarters of 2005, Croatiancompanies invested EUR95 million abroad, while Croatia's total directinvestments abroad in the period between 1993 and late September 2005amounted to more than EUR1.6 billion, according to the latest figuresreleased by the Croatian National Bank. Thanks to tourism revenue, Croatia recorded acurrent account balance of payments surplus of EUR2.26 billion in thethird quarter of 2005, or 13.8 per cent more than in the same periodof 2004, according to the latest figures released by the centralbank.
